Summer Music in the Big Apple

Summer in New York City comes with a great amount of performances from the biggest names in music paired with the most iconic views of the city. Here is a list of the top NYC summer concerts that you do not want to miss out on ranging from all music genres.

All throughout the summer, you can enjoy performances from big-name musicians at Central Park and beyond as part of this year’s SummerStage concert series. There are plenty of musicians gracing NYC’s stages in a variety of free and benefit concerts.

From June to September, you can head on over to Bryant Park and enjoy a free night of music through their Picnic Performances Series. With music ranging from jazz to opera and an Emerging Music Festival, there’s something for everyone to come and listen to.

Sam Smith takes the stage at Madison Square Garden from August 8-9 this summer in support of “GLORIA”, their fourth studio album. A five-time Grammy Award-winning artist with amazing vocals and performance skills, this is great summer show you do not want to miss.

An 18-year-old sensation Glaive (Ash Guitierrez) will headline Webster Hall this August accompanied by Oso Oso and Polo Perks. This artist explores the distorted sounds of the online-based hyper pop and is a concert that will get the whole crowd immersed in the sound and vibes of his music.

The Strokes will be performing at the Forest Hill Stadium 2023 Centennial concert series on August 19 with support from Angel Olsen. They are a NYC-based band from the late ‘90s and paved their way for modern-day indie rock with their catchy lyrics and great rhythm.

Free of charge, New York’s live debut of a Brazilian producer, arranger, and guitarist, Arthur Verocai is performing at Damrosch Park, Lincoln Center on August 11th as part of the Summer For The City’s summer-long, free artist series. A jazz artist who also incorporated electronical music, this is a show you definitely shouldn’t skip out on.

Located at Greenpoint Terminal Market in Brooklyn, AfroPunk Brooklyn Fest 2023 is a showcase for Black music, culture, fashion, and activism. The lineup for the festival, themed “Circus of Soul”, includes headliners Jazmine Sullivan and Flying Lotus, with Joey Bada$$, Vince Staples, Baby Tate, Durand Bernarr, Amindi and Sudan Archives.

The lineup at TSP Live in Times Square will include 80-plus free events, featuring live concerts, DJ’s, stand-up comedy, and dance performances from some of the city’s most popular names.

For the fifth year of the Rooftop at Pier 17’ s summer concert series at the Seaport, they have a packed musical performance lineup with more than 60 outdoor shows. This year’s lineup includes many well-known artists so check it out on their website linked!

The BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! is a great music festival that celebrates all that the amazing borough of Brooklyn has to offer. The mostly free shows take place in Prospect Park and have plenty of artists that are going to make an appearance.

End the summer with Electric Zoo Festival that takes over NYC on Labor Day weekend at Randall’s Island Park. With Tiesto, Kaskade, Galantis and The Chainsmokers included in this year’s lineup, this iconic EDM festival has become an unmissable attraction on the electric-dance-music circuit (September 1-3, 2023).
