Where to Sip NYC's Best Hot Cocktails

You deserve a nice warm cocktail after trekking around in the cold New York winter.

The weather is finally getting cooler in the city, which means cozy fall fashion, changing leaves — and steamy cocktails. Nothing’s better on a blustery late autumn day than a warm, spiked drink, whether you go for a classic like the hot toddy or hot buttered rum, or something a bit more adventurous.

Before winter arrives in full force and it becomes almost unbearable to venture out into the bitter cold for a few drinks, head over to these bars and try their unique hot cocktails. We promise: it’ll be worth the journey.

1. Hot Whiskey Punch at the Dead Rabbit

This cocktail is inspired by a recipe book from the 1800s, which can only mean two things: it’ll be really good and it’ll be really strong. This hot whiskey concoction packs a punch that might burn going down, but it’ll keep you warm all winter long. Sipping on your punch while munching on tasty small plates inside this traditional Irish bar provides the perfect escape from the winter freeze.

The Dead Rabbit is located at 30 Water Street.

2. Hot Buttered Rum at B-Side

The hot buttered rum is a winter cocktail classic, but you’ll definitely want to enjoy yours at B-Side. This eclectic bar with a jukebox and frequent movie screenings is the perfect place to enjoy a delicious hot cocktail. Bring a date or a few friends to play foosball and dance to classic jukebox tunes while you sip on your tasty beverage.

B-Side is located at 204 Avenue B.

3. Irish Coffee at Donovan’s Pub

This Irish neighborhood pub offers some of the best Irish coffee in New York City. Come inside, eat a delicious burger  — once crowned the Best Burger in New York by TimeOut, by the way — wash it down with a beer, and round out your meal with a warm Irish coffee before heading back into the cold. It’ll be a trek from Manhattan, but we promise it’s worth it.

Donovan’s Pub is located at 57-24 Roosevelt Avenue in Woodside, NY.

4. The Kipling at Fort Defiance

Nothing epitomizes the modern New York experience like an artisanal cocktail in a vintage Brooklyn bar. While there are hundreds of bars you could choose from in Brooklyn, Fort Defiance has carved out a special place in our hearts with its inventive cocktails. In the wintertime, the Kipling — a warm rum toddy with the perfect balance of sweet and spicy flavors — makes the perfect treat.

Fort Defiance is located at 365 Van Brunt Street in Brooklyn.

5. The Hot Toddy at Wallflower

A hot toddy is basically hot tea, right? Sip on all the hot toddies your heart could desire at Wallflower, a hip French bar and restaurant in the West Village. This seasonal drink is a classic, but the one being served up at Wallflower is a cut above the rest.

Wallflower is located at 235 West 12th Street.

After trying out all of these cocktails at cozy bars across the city, you’ll want to come back to your hotel room and recline in luxury. Book now to take advantage of our Suite Shopping Spree, and receive 25% of suites and a $50 American Express gift card. Cheers!
