To See the August 21 Solar Eclipse in NYC, Aim High for These 6 Observation Decks

A solar eclipse occurs when the sun disappears behind the moon, and for a few moments, the world goes dark. These events are rare, but solar eclipses that span from coast to coast are even more uncommon the last one occurred on June 8, 1918, and the next one won’t appear until 2045.
This year, the Big Apple is getting a partial glimpse of the solar eclipse on Monday, August 21, and it’s definitely worth seeing. Beginning at 1:23pm, the sun will be at maximum eclipse by 2:45pm.
