The Trendiest Steakhouses in New York

These seven steakhouses are a carnivore’s dream come true.

Take a break from NYC walking tours and street food, and treat yourself to a prime cut of steak. Whether you’re planning a ritzy night on the town, or just want to order delivery for an indulgent night in, the city has it all. These trendy restaurants offer up delicious twists on a classic dish.

1. American Cut

American Cut lies in the heart of Manhattan, just a short walk away from the Fifty NYC. This trendy steak restaurant offers a phenomenal classic ribeye. During NYC Restaurant Week, they’ll be serving the Big Marc, a Big Mac-inspired burger from Chef Marc Forgione, which consists of two wagyu patties, special sauce, and all the fixings.

American Cut is located at 109 E 56th Street.

2. Bowery Meat Company

As the name suggests, the Bowery Meat Company is all about meat. While they serve up at least seven different cuts of beef, they also offer burgers, seafood, lamb, and duck. This meat-centric menu by Chef Josh Capon and his partner John McDonald also offers more vegetarian-friendly options, like zucchini carpaccio and sour cream and onion hash browns.

Bowery Meat Company is located at 9 E 1st Street.

3. BLT Prime

This comfy yet modern steakhouse offers seating in its glitzy dining room, a mezzanine overlooking the dining room, and its outdoor cafe. With a menu centered around beef, you’ll find American wagyu ribeye and a 28-day dry aged porterhouse, paired with sides like truffled mashed potatoes and hen of the woods mushrooms.

BLT Prime is located at 196 E 22nd Street.

4. Keens Steakhouse

A recipient of the James Beard America’s Classics award in 2013, this institution first opened its doors in 1885. One of the oldest steakhouses in New York City, it has that classic steakhouse feel, with leather furniture, wood-paneled walls, and antique paintings scattered throughout the restaurant. We recommend ordering their famous mutton chops.

Keens Steakhouse is located at 72 W 36th Street.

5. Wolfgang’s Steakhouse

Before opening up his own steakhouse, Wolfgang Zwiener learned from the best, as a waiter for 40 years at the famed Peter Luger steakhouse in Brooklyn. We recommend checking out the flagship location on Park Avenue for the blue, white, and gold-tiled ceiling by architect Rafael Guastavino come for the steak, stay for the views.

Wolfgang’s Steakhouse is located at 4 Park Avenue.

6. St. Anselm

This no-frills steakhouse is worth the trip to Williamsburg Ñ the neighborhood bar feel of St. Anselm’s will make you feel right at home. The New York Strip is the most expensive thing on the menu, but at a reasonable $39, we’re not complaining. This steakhouse doesn’t take reservations, so arrive early or expect to wait.

St. Anselm is located at 355 Metropolitan Avenue, Brooklyn.

7. Costata

Craving a steak but don’t want to leave your hotel room? Costata is your answer. Although they recently closed their Spring St. location, Costata still offers delivery services through Caviar. You can order steaks, pasta, seafood, and a multitude of sides from this Italian steakhouse.

Costata is delivery only.
