Alexander Hamilton's New York

Even if you can’t score tickets to the hit Broadway show, you can still walk in Hamilton’s footsteps.

All you Hamilton aficionados can sit this quick history lesson out. After all, you already know why Alexander Hamilton was one of America’s most influential citizens of all time, shaping such monumental financial and governmental systems as the Electoral College and the National Bank.

After leaving his home in the Caribbean as an orphan, Hamilton arrived on the shores of New York with high hopes for the future of his adopted country. As George Washington’s right hand man, Hamilton was instrumental in forming a strong central government and our modern financial system. But after two decades of incredible accomplishments, Hamilton’s life was cut short by a duel with his long-time nemesis (and then Vice President) Aaron Burr.

For the history buffs among you, landmarks of Hamilton’s rich legacy are scattered throughout the city. You can follow the trail of his accomplishments by visiting the following sites of significance, which still exist alongside an ever-changing New York.
